UC Health Opens Air Care Base in Northern Kentucky

Jul. 10, 2018

CINCINNATI - UC Health Air Care & Mobile Care provides medical care and safe transport for patients in need of urgent medical attention.

Now, that life-saving care will be available closer to those who need it via UC Health’s third Air Care helicopter base, located in Walton, Ky. Like the bases in Hamilton and Mt. Orab, the Northern Kentucky location will be staffed 24/7 with a helicopter and personnel.

“We are proud to expand access through our new base in Walton, which will allow our medical helicopters and highly-trained flight crews to serve those in need more quickly,” said Matt Gunderman, director of medical transportation for UC Health. “We know that time matters when it comes to a critical illness or injury, and the new base will allow us to help our partners in the community provide life-saving care to those in need more quickly than ever before.”

Every Air Care flight crew includes an emergency medicine physician or an advanced practice nurse, and a highly-trained flight nurse/paramedic, providing patients the best chance for survival and optimal outcomes during events where every second matters. UC Health is one of just a few medical centers across the country to provide this advanced level of care on every flight.

The community and first responders are invited to attend the grand opening event 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11. The base is located next to the Walton Fire Department, which will also be open for the event. The base address is 910 Wenstrup Ln., Walton, Ky. 41094.
