In this role, Patel will play a pivotal role in supporting the organization's mission to advance medicine and improve the health of all people. With a strong background in digital healthcare, Ben will lead projects to integrate advanced technologies and innovative solutions into UC Health's operations. By upgrading IT systems, services, and infrastructure, Ben aims to enhance the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of hospital operations and medical care. This commitment to using technology will not only simplify processes but also help UC Health stay at the forefront of medical advancements, ultimately benefiting patients and the community at large.
Patel brings over 28 years of information technology leadership experience, with more than 22 years in healthcare information technology. He has led IT operations and strategy across several organizations, enhancing patient experience and advancing both operational and strategic outcomes. He has been recognized by InfoWorld Top 100 IT Award (2009) and was named to Becker’s “100 Hospital and Health System CIOs to Know” from 2019 to 2023. Additionally, Patel currently serves on the Advisory Board of Stellar Health.

In his new role, Patel will join the Digital Health Systems (DHS) team, where he will oversee the IS&T group responsible for digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital clinical services, and digital business applications. He will ensure these areas align with UC Health’s strategic goals, including workforce development, operational efficiency, and patient-centered care. Patel will collaborate closely with UC Health leadership, clinical teams, business operations, and health system staff to improve care delivery, efficiency, digital security, and the patient experience, further strengthening UC Health’s ability to serve its community.

Patel’s previous experience includes serving as Chief Information Officer at Cone Health, Sinai Health System, and APM Health, among other senior IT roles. His educational background includes a master of science in Computer Science from DePaul University and an MBA from Pittsburg State University, along with an Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare certificate from MIT Sloan School of Management.
