Weight shouldn’t be a barrier to transplantation, so we founded the Transplant-Related Interdisciplinary Metabolic Surgery, or TRIMS, program. One surgeon and one team coordinate both a gastric procedure for weight loss and a transplant, increasing the chance for a successful transplant.
Our physicians are at the forefront of innovations and research in transplant care. We are always looking for new ways to provide more people with better care. Our subspecialists are among the first in the U.S. to use the latest techniques—including the country’s first-ever liver transplant using an organ preserved through a cold perfusion pump to prolong its life on the way to the patient. These breakthroughs mean more people can get the lifesaving transplants they need with long-term success.
Too many patients in need of a transplant are told they don’t qualify because of their weight. Our TRIMS program starts with bariatric surgery and ends with transplant, performed by the same surgeon.
We offer hepatitis C treatment before and after transplantation. Our experienced team offers innovations like using hepatitis C virus-positive organs in hepatitis C-negative patients.
The best transplant programs in the world are part of leading-edge research, like the clinical trials we offer to advance medicine and improve options for patients in Greater Cincinnati and around the world.
