This study is being conducted to investigate the antidepressant effects of an investigational medication (versus placebo), as add on treatment to an antidepressant medication in adults (18 to 64 years, inclusive) and elderly (65 to 74 years, inclusive) with major depression, and particularly in those with major depressive disorder with insomnia symptoms, who have had an inadequate response to treatment with an SSRI/SNRI (a common type of antidepressant medication treatment).

Criteria:

Basic Entry Criteria: 1. Male Or Female, Aged 18 To 74 Years (Inclusive). 2. Meet Dsm-5 Diagnostic Criteria For Major Depression, Without Psychotic Features, Based Upon Clinical Assessment With First Depressive Episode Prior To Age 60. The Length Of The
