We will investigate computerized multimodal behavior analysis as an improvement over patient-report and gold-standard PTSD assessment methods. Our first aim is to test whether automatic behavior measures will index PTSD symptom severity in a diverse PTSD patient sample as they talk about their worst traumatic event and the effect it has had on their lives. Our second aim will evaluate whether certain PTSD symptoms will be associated with different patterns of patient behavior (e.g., symptoms of hyperarousal may be especially apparent in measures of vocal prosody and head motion; symptoms of avoidance may be most revealed by measures of facial affect and language usage). Our third aim will examine whether computerized multimodal behavior analysis predicts important treatment outcomes.
