Up to 5% of the population may experience chronic diarrhea. Here, we describe a single-center cohort of patients with idiopathic postprandial diarrhea (PPD) who are found to have dermatographism. When applicable, organic causes of their chronic diarrhea were excluded. When treated with oral antihistamines, these patients may report improvement and even resolution in their PPD. Further studies are needed to clarify the prevalence of this syndrome and quantification of response rates to antihistamines. This cohort contains 22 patients who met criteria over a 15-month period.

Criteria:

Patients Who Were Found To Have Ppd And Dermatographism After Presenting To The Clinic Seeking Food Allergy Evaluation Or For Follow Up Of Chronic Urticaria
