West Chester Hospital and Cancer Support Community of Greater Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky partner to bring support, education and information to cancer patients, cancer survivors, and to members of the local community who have been touched by cancer.

The two organizations are offering a free cancer education program for the public, entitled “Introduction to Mindfulness” on Saturday, March 19.

Research shows that mindfulness meditation can help reduce anxiety, stress, blood pressure, chronic pain, and insomnia, as well as regain a sense of control.  Mindfulness is about wakefulness, the art of paying attention to what we think, feel, and experience without judgment.  This program will provide an introduction to the concept of mindfulness, explaining what it is and how to practice it, as well as guiding participants through several mindfulness techniques.

This free series is offered throughout the year at West Chester Hospital and features informal presentations by physicians and other health care professionals in a casual, relaxed environment. Representatives from Cancer Support Community and West Chester Hospital are available to discuss the challenges of a cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery, as well as provide information about their cancer programs and services.
