Debra C. Hampton

Vice President Administration/Chief Nursing Officer

Debbie Hampton has proven to be a valuable member of the senior leadership team since joining Drake Center in January 2011. With more than 35 years as a clinician and administrator, she most recently was the Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer at Pikeville Medical Center in Kentucky. There, she successfully implemented many quality and patient satisfaction initiatives, including reductions in skin breakdown, falls and errors. She also held numerous leadership positions at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, including Director of Nursing.

In addition to serving at Drake Center, Debbie is a part-time instructor at the University of Kentucky. She has written for numerous nursing publications and is a member of many professional organizations. Debbie received her bachelor’s in nursing from Eastern Kentucky University and her master’s in nursing and PhD from the University of Cincinnati. She is a certified nurse executive.

Mark Goddard, M.D.

Chief of Staff at Drake Center

Mark Goddard, MDDr. Goddard, MD,  is Chief of Staff at Drake Center, and works directly with the medical and clinical staff to enhance patient care and outcomes. He is responsible for establishment and implementation of programs for quality, safety and continuity of care.

He is chair of the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and a physiatrist at Cincinnati’s Neuroscience Institute.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and completed his residency at Northwestern University’s Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.

Brad Carman

Director of Physician Relations

Brad CarmanBrad Carman has 25 years of experience as a respiratory therapist and health care administrator. Prior to becoming Director of Physician Relations at Drake, he served as the hospital’s Director of Respiratory Services. Brad also has worked in patient care roles and as a manager at teaching facilities that specialize in critical care and medical-surgical care.

Brad has served as an adjunct professor for respiratory care and nursing programs, participated in eight completed research projects and lectured at international clinical and physician conferences.  He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, American Association of Respiratory Care and Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. Brad holds a bachelor’s degree from Empire State College, a master’s of business administration from Ashford University and an associate’s degree in respiratory therapy from Valencia Community College.

Duane J. Pifko

Division Director of Finance

Duane J. Pifko has worked in healthcare finance for almost 30 years, including 15 years in senior leadership positions. He has extensive experience in both the not-for-profit and for-profit healthcare settings, including at short-and long-term acute care hospitals, rehabilitation facilities and skilled nursing units. He joined Drake Center in 2010, bringing with him a proven record of effective financial management, successful contract negotiations and cost containment and revenue enhancement programs.

Duane’s expertise includes strategic financial planning, healthcare reimbursement, budgeting and leading organizations to stronger, more competitive market positions. In his role as Division Director of Finance, Duane provides leadership for Drake Center finances and oversees throughput at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Brenda Ziegler

Director of Operations

In addition to serving as Director of Operations for Drake Center, Brenda is also Director of the Diabetes and Metabolic Disease Institute at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Brenda brings extensive expertise to her dual-role at UC Health with more than 25 years in healthcare across the spectrum of hospital and physician practice operations, strategic planning, business and program development, physician relations and recruitment, organizational effectiveness, process improvement and project management. She has served in multiple leadership positions within UC Health and the Health Alliance including Administrative Director for the Barrett Cancer Center, Director of Strategic Development for Alliance Primary Care, and Director of Physician Services for The St. Luke Hospitals. Her experience outside UC Health includes Director of Operations and Business Development for Kentucky Cardiovascular Group and Senior Director for the Global Project Management Office of Kendle International.
