Adult Volunteers

Opportunities for adult volunteers include clerical work, assisting and escorting patients and visitors, waiting rooms, emergency department assistance, and so much more. Groups are also encouraged to inquire about special projects for knitting or crocheting, which may take place off-site.

Pet Therapy

Volunteer Services also offers pet therapy in order to reduce anxiety and depression associated with hospitalization to patients who request it.  Please contact Volunteer Services if you have a canine interested in being a pet therapy dog or if you know of a patient who would like a visit.

Are you interested in pursuing a health-care career?
UC Health proudly offers high school students the opportunity to learn more about clinical and nonclinical healthcare careers through the UC Health Career Journeys Program at UC Medical Center. This program offers an exciting coeducational experience to interested and eligible local high school teens.

    What to Expect
Students gain valuable insights into the day-to-day responsibilities of a variety of clinical and non-clinical health care jobs over the course of several months. Each session focuses on a specific service area ranging from those with direct patient care to those in support services.

    Multifaceted Approach
The program is lead by adult advisors who work at UC Health in a variety of capacities. These dedicated associates facilitate the learning process for the Career Journeys sessions by promoting a greater awareness and understanding within the healthcare fields through:

    • Detailed career insights facilitated by current clinicians and support staff.
    • Educational requirements needed for various healthcare positions.
    • Behind-the-scenes tours to areas not available to the public.
    • Virtual learnings and presentations.

    Schedule and Registration
An in-person program is offered from September to March and meets twice a month from 6 to 8 p.m., and a virtual program is offered September to March once a month from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Participation in each of the programs will depend on availability, eligibility and space limitations.
