Groundbreaking Clinical Trials
As one of the first sites in the country to enroll patients in the Baxter Stem Cell Trial, University Hospital explored the effectiveness of using stem cells to develop new blood vessels within the heart. Participation in pioneering clinical trials gives our top-rated team of interventional cardiologists and certified support clinicians the insight needed to effectively diagnose and treat heart patients at all levels of care.
Innovative Lifesaving Technology
For patients experiencing a heart attack, we work closely with our community’s Emergency Medical System to develop and streamline protocols for fast and effective emergency care. In adherence with The American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association recommendations, we’ve reduced the amount of time it takes for those patients to attain heart vessel reperfusion, giving heart attack patients the best chance to avoid permanent heart muscle damage.
Access to knowledge and continued improvement efforts mean world-class interventional care for you.
Mission
At the UC Cardiovascular Institute, our mission is to deliver innovative heart disease management options directly to our patients to help them meet their optimum level of health as quickly as possible.

Catheters are then inserted and blood vessels are treated with balloon angioplasty, stent placement and/or blood clot dissolving drugs.
Recovery and return to full activity after these procedures is much quicker as there is minimal healing required.
Blood vessels that benefit from endovascular therapies include:
